Instructions

Preparation

Stand with feet shoulder-wide apart in front of bar. Bend over, keep back straight and knees slightly flexed. Grasp bar with wide overhand grip.

Execution

Pull bar up toward costal arch until elbows pass torso. Keep elbows close to body. Return, keep arms slightly flexed and repeat.

Variations / Comments

Keep back straight throughout motion.

"@Hondoman. You´re right, using a free barbell is more common. On the other hand I think the smith press variation puts more demand on the stabilizers because you cannot move along the "natural" path."
